Our boat hauling services include the capability to haul and launch both powerboats and sailboats up to a length of 40 feet, and we can provide hauling services from your location to our storage facility, or from our storage area to your location. We can also provide launching assistance at the beginning of the season when you’re ready to enjoy a full summer of good times on the ocean, before having to pack it up again in the fall.
Included in our hauling service
We can provide mast stepping and unstepping at an additional cost, and in the case of sailboats, both sales and boom will need to be removed prior to arrival at our boat ramp for hauling. We don’t provide any tuning service for the stays. When you call us for a quote, please be prepared to supply us with the length of your mast, and we can provide mast-side carry for an additional fee.
If we are hired to haul the boat to your own yard for storage, it will be necessary for you to have your blocks and stands prepared for storage. Make sure these blocks and stands are in good condition, because if your location or your equipment is not deemed to be safe by our hauling crew, we may opt to not drop off the boat at your location. In that case, we would either return the vessel to the water, or return it to our facility until the deficiency can be rectified.
When your boat is being prepared for launching, it is your responsibility to make sure that it is in good operating condition. For an additional charge, we will provide a service that transports your boat to a mooring or a slip, where you can then access it. If your boat is higher than the standard size, it may be necessary for you or your representative to actually ride in the boat during hauling, in order to deal with any roadway hazards countered.
Trees and wires may come into play if your boat is high enough on the hauling equipment, and if you are unable to ride with your boat for some reason, we can provide a service person who will do that at additional cost.
Goodwin Marine services
Our boat-hauling team is ready to provide service to all our loyal customers, and that team is comprised of talented individuals who are boating enthusiasts just like you are. We handle every transport job and every boat as though it were our own, taking great care to ensure that no harm comes to your vessel. We have equipment such as mobile cranes which will facilitate mast stepping and unstepping for sailboats, to make it easier for our sailboat lovers.
We ask that you take several preliminary steps with regard to mast stepping and unstepping, in order to ensure that the process goes smoothly. First of all, sails and sail covers will have to be disconnected, flaked, folded, and either rolled up or stowed. It’s a good idea to stay as organized as possible, which means that battens should be labeled and removed. We ask that sail pendants or stops, as well as head shackles, tack shackles, and clew shackles, remain with the boat’s rigging, even while the mast is being unstepped.
All lines should be coiled before being stored, and after this we can take down the main sheet and have the boom removed from the sheet. Once we’re sure all electrical equipment has been disconnected, our boat transport crew will be able to use mobile cranes to efficiently unstep the mast. You can rely on our crew of experienced boat haulers to take the utmost care with your personal asset, and to take good care of the winches on your mast. We’ll also make sure to balance the mast carefully, so there’s no possibility of it being upended.
